Its that special time of yr again...this yr lets look at the concept of the routine gift exchange we do on christmas night. This ones called 'Gift Exchange'
Hows it feel to leave the place you love
To a race that did not deserve
You
Yet you came and asked for nothing in exchange
And became a slave to my sinful trade
You came along
When you were lying in the manger,
Hidden safe within the covers
Did you see the desperate faces
Longing for a saviour
To provide a solution
To this cruel earths conclusion
To come and save the day
And well say:
'Happy birthday'
The whole earth sings
'Happy birthday'
Cos its the happiest day
'Happy birthday'
The angels hail the King
Two thousand years ago on this starry night
A widow loses hope, she waits to die
Shes giving up the fight
Little does she know this special night
A little baby boy is humbly born to life
He can save her
When you were peering down from heaven
To this earth you created
Did you hear her desperate voice
Calling for a saviour
To provide a solution
To this fear and dillusion
To come and save the day
And we say
'Happy birthday'
The whole earth sings
'Happy birthday'
Cos its the happiest day
'Happy birthday'
The angels hail the King
And You came to trade the gift of Your life
To a world that greeted You with despise
On that bed of hay lies a mystery
How this Gift Exchange seems so unfair to me
